Spectacle Pond

Spectacle Pond
Schroon Lake, NY

Our next jaunt was a 3.4 mile walk to Spectacle Pond in Schroon Lake, NY. Spectacle Pond is in the Pharoah Lake Wildnerness Area. It is off East Shore Drive in Schroon Lake, NY. Turn left at the Adirondack General Store and continue straight up the hill for approximately 6 miles. The parking area is on the right about 1/2 mile before the Gull Pond entrance. The trailhead is well marked.
The hike was relatively flat with just an overall elevation change of less than 270 feet over its course. The trail in itself was very well marked. At the end of the trail, it appears that NYS-DEC has left a large, heavy flat bottom boat. Bring your own oars though. I have heard that the pond is very good for trout fishing although we did not fish it. We just might go back and try it out though.

  Take the time to visit.
